Fashion Week Essentials

The time has almost come for me to fly to Melbourne for the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. It will be a week of coffee fueled days and cocktail fueled nights where my camera will never leave my freshly manicured hands. You can expect street style snaps, daily outfit posts, vintage fashion finds, runway snaps and behind the scenes pics! As you would presume, fashion week is always rather hectic: there are pre-show parties to attend, runway shows to watch and after parties to charm at. And at the end of it all, a blog to write. With all of this running around a girl has to look good, which means we have to prepare, prepare, prepare! So, I have composed a little list of my fashion week essentials. Of course, the main essential is to pack a fabulous wardrobe, but that's a given, right?

1. Pack a partner in crime
Fashion week is fun, but it's even more fun with a friend! You need someone to bounce blogging ideas off, discuss the collections and shows with and someone to help you bitch, quietly, about that girl's fugly outfit. I have chosen my good friend and fellow fashion stylist, Sarah Revell. She has great style, great taste and a great sense of humour, so she makes the perfect fashion companion. We have rented a little apartment together right in the city centre...so look out Melbourne ;)

2. Statement Lipstick

There will be times when you will be too busy and too tired to complete your usual, perfect make up regime. That's when a statement lippy comes in handy. Pair a bold lip colour with nude eyes for a make up look that is quick yet stylish. ***Disclaimer*** When I say a nude eye, personally I would still go for two coats of mascara...I'm a never nude when it comes to my eyes. With my pale skin, I prefer a red lip, but choose a colour that will suit you and your outfit.

3. Concealer

You may be gorgeous, but you are still only human. Busy days and long, cocktail filled blogging nights will have you looking like Lyndsay Lohan's mug shot within a few days. A weaker woman would tell you to get a good night's sleep, but us fashion addicts say...you only have one week! Suck up some coffee (skinny flat white with one please) and add some concealer to your peepers! My favourite is Soap and Glory's Trick and Treatment. It adds a luminous glow as well as covering up your dark patches. You can only get it from Kit Cosmetics is Perth, but it's totally worth the visit, like totally.

4.  Laptop

Pretty obvious...If I don't bring my laptop I won't be able to share this exciting, fashion filled week with all you beautiful people. Don't forget your chargers!!!

5. Dry Shampoo
Greasy hair is never okay. There was a reason why Professor Snape had no friends. I know, I know,  washing your hair is followed by a long and boring styling process and when you're tired that is the last thing you want to do. To keep your hair looking fresh for an extra day, get yourself some dry shampoo. All you do is spray it on your roots, leave it for a few mins and then brush it out. This isn't a new thing, your granny used to use talcum powder to do the same thing! So, no excuses for greasy hair, you dirty girl!

6. Face Wipes

You've been to one event and had your photo taken and now you have to go to another event...do you repeat offend your make up now that it's looking all sad and old? No, no you do not. Without touching your eyes, wipe off your foundation with a wet wipe, add some moisturiser and reapply the foundation. New foundation makes you look instantly fresh *hair flick*.

7. A pair of Wedges

I'm short and I don't like wearing flats, but I cannot make it through an entire day and night wearing heels. It's bad for your back and it's bad for your rep, because by the end of the day you will be walking like a new born baby giraffe. You will be the girl that other girls whisper about, for example 'Oh look at her, she can't even walk in her shoes oh em gee, like don't wear them if you can't handle them' Bitches P-lease! Save yourself the trouble and pain and invest in a pair of black wedges. You'll look chic and be comfy all day.

8. A Camera

You may look like the ultimate Asian tourist always carrying your camera around, but to get quality pictures of the runway shows you will need a good camera. No one will look at your iPhone quality snaps if someone else has beautiful, clear shots. Saaayyyyy FUJI!

And that's all folks! Stay tuned for all the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival goss and pics!
